Avocats Sans Frontières's Teams

Our lawyers without borders are people convinced that law and justice are tools, which should be put into practice for the dignity, protection and development of the population.
Adhering to ASFs’ principles, they put their competences at the service of the organisation so that ASF can lead its mission effectively - to contribute, completely independently, to the creation of a society that is more just, equitable and united in which law and justice service groups and/or individuals that are most vulnerable.
ASFs’ international network is made up of collaborators, mixed up of all nationalities, using the necessary jobs to lead ASF’s action effectively: lawyers, solicitors, magistrates and all other occupations that touch the legal sphere either closely or from further away. Occupations that also make up its ranks are anthropologies, sociologies, administrators, logisticians, etc. Paid or voluntary, these people work abroad and/or directly from Brussels, the organisations headquarters.
The organisation is present abroad:
In a punctual way. Sent for a short term (one or two weeks) one or more lawyers assist and/or defend each individual that cannot defend itself in front of a court, in any context of non-respect of human rights (Lawyers for lawyers, project previously named Solidarity and defense).
In a permanent way. Sent for a long term (as from 6 months) our lawyers in one of our many action programmes implanted abroad (Algeria, Burundi, East Timor, Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel and Palestine and Rwanda). In this case, they have the status of expatriate and work directly in the concerned country with our local collaborators in function of the necessities and the fixed objectives for each one of our programmes.
